Discovered in the 80's by some windsurfers from Quebec, Cabarete rapidly gained fame as one of the world's best windsurfing sites, blessed with regular wind, breaking waves, a smooth sand beach, and an exciting ambiance.

Today Cabarete offers everything for windsurfing, and has become the kiteboarder's choice. Many of the world's best kiteboarders come to Cabarete to participate in international competitions and/or train in ideal conditions.

- Excursions: A variety of excursion are near Cabarete and the surrounding areas that offer something for everyone. In addition to sports activities, organized tours include: other beaches, Ciguapa Falls, city tours (Puerto Plata, Samana & the capital, Santo Domingo), whale watching from boats off the coast of Samana, visits to Ocean World Marine Park, or walks through the historical caves in El Choco National Park, to name a few. - Ocean World Adventure Park, Marina and Casino is the most complete entertainment complex of the Dominican Republic, located in Cofresi Beach, just 3 miles west from the town of Puerto Plata. The entertainment complex is made of an elegant Marina, a unique marine park and the outstanding building where our clients will have the opportunity to enjoy restaurants, bars, and theatre with live dance show, casino and a disco-lounge. - Ocean World Adventure Park is the most advanced interactive marine park of its kind. Guests will have the opportunity to touch, pet and feed all their favorite animals and mammal friends, including dolphins, sea lions, sharks, stingrays, exotic tropical birds; meet tigers, and walk through rain forests.
- Discovering On Your Own: Head off with your own car, rented car or motorcycle, and experience a day of discovery and adventure. You can drive along coastline roads or head into the mountains to take in breath-taking views of the lush mountains and valleys. Stop in small villages for a look around and experience the warm, friendly hospitality of the Dominican people.
- Shopping: Do not expect to find major designer label's stores or shopping malls, but do expect to find items you may not find anywhere else. This very active beach town offers you everything you might need to play in the water. Clothing, beachwear, hand-crafted jewelry, hand-rolled Dominican cigars, and amazing artwork can be found at several boutiques/galleries sprinkled around town.
- Health & Wellness: There is no shortage of things you can do to relax the body and free the spirit. Massage therapy and beauty treatments – manicures, pedicures, etc. - are available throughout town. Check the bulletin board in the Reception or have the office make arrangements for you.
- Spanish Lessons: You can choose to have a private tutor meet you in the comfort of your condominium, or attend daily or weekly classes at the Spanish language school. Please check the Reception to help with arranging instruction based on your needs.
- Horseback Riding: Trail ride in the mountains or gallop down an unspoiled e beach. Please check the Reception.
- Surfing: Try the wave at Playa Encuentro, only five minutes from Cabarete. Rental surfboards available in town.
- Scuba Diving and Snorkeling: Clear water and rich reef life make the coast a target for experienced divers. PADI certified lessons can get you started.

- Canoying/Cascading: The Damajaqua Cascades (27 Waterfalls) are a series of waterfalls about 45 minutes from Cabarete. To enjoy the canyoning adventure, you hike up the mountain for about an hour until you reach the falls and work your way back down the river by jumping and sliding through pools of water ; this can be challenging so you shouldn't have any physical limitations or fear of jumping from 10-20 ft falls. - Golf: A 18 hole Golf course at Playa Dorada, or, an hour's drive away, Playa Grande, where the spectacular coast is home to a beautiful golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones.
- Other sports: include stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), caving, sea kayaking, motorcycle tours, hiking and sailing, most with modern equipment available in town.
- Activities that are out of town but not too far include rock climbing, paragliding, whitewater kayaking and river rafting.

Restaurants & Night Life
Central Village... Palm Beach's central location on the best broad stretch of beach is unmatched. It is a convenient walk, 200 feet (70m), to amazing restaurants and lively nightlife. Beach dining here is like no other in the Caribbean with the tables and service out on the sand. Candle-lit tables, beach cabanas and luxurious couches dot the beach and beckon you to have a drink and mingle. Clustered together are great cafes, restaurants specializing in Dominican fare, sushi restaurants, and gourmet seafood restaurants galore. And when the sun goes down, Cabarete Beach really comes alive. Choose from places that have a mellow ambiance for a cocktail or two to unwind, or join people from all over the world dancing the meringue.
